Our digestive system is responsible for processing not only all our food, but also all of our daily emotions, thoughts, and experiences.

Now ,If I tell you that I just recently discovered a secret that could aid the functioning of the digestive system??

I was amazed to find out that are few strains of live bacteria and yeasts that can be good for us especially for our digestive system! Surprising isn’t it ….

  • What are Probiotics?

We usually think of bacteria as germs that only cause diseases. But our body is full of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are often called “good” or “helpful” bacteria because they help keep the gut healthy.

  • How Do They Work?

Among other things, probiotics help send food through the gut by affecting nerves that control gut movement.

When we lose “good” bacteria in our body, for example after an intake of antibiotics, probiotics can help replace them.

They can help balance our “good” and “bad” bacteria to keep our body working the way it should.

  • Advantages of including probiotics in our daily diet:

1.Help Balance The Friendly Bacteria in our Digestive System: An imbalance means there are too many bad bacteria and not enough good bacteria. When taken in sufficient amounts, they can help restore the natural balance of gut bacteria.

2. Help Prevent and Treat Diarrhea: Probiotics can reduce the risk and severity of diarrhea from a number of different causes.

3.Supplements can Improve Some Mental Health Conditions: Research shows taking probiotics may help improve symptoms of mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, stress and memory, among others.

5.Probiotics May Reduce the Severity of Certain Allergies and Eczema: Probiotics may reduce the risk and severity of certain allergies, such as eczema in infants. However, more research is needed.

6.Help Reduce Symptoms of Certain Digestive Disorders Probiotics may help reduce the symptoms of bowel disorders like ulcerative colitis, IBS and necrotizing enterocolitis.

7.May Help Boost the Immune System: Probiotics may help boost our immune system and protect against infections.

8.Helps absorption of food nutrients: : Ingestion of probiotics not only aids digestive health but also helps us better absorb essential nutrients in our diet such as vitamins and minerals.

  •  Which foods are Probiotic?

We can get probiotics from a variety of foods or supplements. Live probiotic cultures are often found in fermented dairy products such as yogurts and milk drinks. Fermented foods like pickled vegetables, tempeh, miso, kefir , kimchi, sauerkraut and soy products may also contain some lactic acid bacteria. We can also take probiotics as tablets, capsules and powders that contain the bacteria in dried form.

If we want to experience any of the health benefits discussed above, it’s important that we consume adequate amounts (Should be in discussion with a Dietician/Doctor)

  1. Probiotics is absolutely important when it comes to our daily diet. Recently i was quite surprised to know the presence of Probiotics in foods like icecreams and shakes.
